St. James ASL Class

Hello, hello, hello!!!

The past couple of weeks we have been reviewing and learning animal signs. The kids have been having so much fun learning how to sign their favourite animal and others. We have created our own flash cards and made booklets to help practice the vocab. The weeks we learn animal signs are probably one of my favourites because the students love to sign animals, as do I! :)
Pictured below you will find some other activites the kids have been doing, mostly fun games to reinforce the animal vocab :)

Thanks for stopping by!

Intermediate Spanish - Patwin Elementary

Hola padres,

This semester our students have learned so much! We began by learning about animals and had a matching activity. I wrote the animals in both Spanish and English and students had to match them with the correct one. Students even added animals that they remembered ans were not on the list!o
We also had an activity where students applied the articles they had previously learned. The articles we focused on were "el and la" and our students did a great job at choosing the correct one.

Our students have been really engaged with everything we have been learning. They have progressed so much!

Thank you for reading,

Maestra Jessica

Patwin Beg ASL Week 18

Happy Valentines Day from our class to you! As it was Valentines Day today, the kids made valentines for either their parents, or whoever they wanted to give one to. They each made their own, unique valentine. Some chose to cut and paste different papers, some chose to make tiny valentines, and one card had a pop-up heart when you opened it! The kids also learned the signs for Happy Valentine’s Day, Love, Sweetheart, Girlfriend, and Boyfriend. The kids yelled out “EW!” a few times while learning the vocabulary, but they had a lot of fun celebrating Valentine’s Day in class today!

Thanks for checking in!
Teacher Naira :)

North Davis Elementary - Beginning Spanish 🌀

Hola padres,

First, I want to thank you for enrolling, or reenrolling your students. It is a great pleasure working with them!
For this past week, the children worked on their very own lotería boards. They colored the provided pictures, cut them out and picked 16 of them to glue into their very own boards. This upcoming week, we will start playing.

Also, he students are learning to answer simple question by hearing the question. So far we learned how to respond to ¿Cómo estás?, How are you? ¿De dónde eres? Where are you from? and others.

Lastly, it seems the students are now able to distinguish papa vs papá.
Here are some pictures from last week 😊

Thank you,

Maestra Alondra

St. James ASL Class

Hello and welcome! We kicked off the Spring Session with most students returning from Fall, and we welcomed three new students to our class! This past week we did some review to catch up the newbies. We covered the manual alphabet, basic introductions, greetings, and personal identity. Giving and receiving this kind of information is very important in Deaf culture. We played a class favourite, 4 Corners, to practice some of the vocab. We also played a couple other fun ones that don’t involve any signing, but connects the students to Deaf culture. New students got folders and ticket bags, and the returning students took this opportunity to give theirs a fresh look. Unfortunately, I didn’t get a chance to snap any new photos this week. We were having too much fun learning and playing and celebrating a birthday. But please enjoy one of my favourite pictures from the Fall Session. :) I’m having a wonderful time in class and am looking forward to the rest of the Spring Session! Thanks for stopping by! _\,,/ Teacher Desmona

Int Spanish at Birch Lane

Hola padres,

These past two weeks have been great. I hope you all had a chance to read the student evaluations. We also welcomed a new student and classmate, Juliet, which is a pleasure to be able to share activities with a new student.

This past week was the start of a new semester. We started off with a fun topic, which was animals.
The students learned about pets, farm, sea and forest animals. This is one of their favorite topics because they get to draw and talk about animals. They were able to to draw their four favorite animals and make a small poster. Although we did not have enough time to finish they still enjoyed their activity. Here are a few pictures of our most recent activity.
Here we have a student drawing a dolphin (delfin)
This student is drawing about desert (desierto) animals.
Here is a dolphin (delfin) and jellyfish (medusa).

Beginning Spanish-Korematsu

Estimados padres de familia:

In the past two weeks we been learning about family members and days of the week!

Students drew their own family trees labeling their primos- cousins, grandfather- abuelo,  and so on..

These are some pictures of the family trees the students drew and color.

We learned the days of the week by playing multiple games such as order up, were kids need to arrange the days of the week from Lunes-Domingo. The students also drew their daily routine on booklets.
This is a picture of some of the booklets

All in all, I am very proud of the progress each student has done! They did a wonderful job and I am confident to say that they have successfully learn the material cover these past weeks!

As always if you have any question or concerns do not hesitate to contact me,
