Beg. and Int. ASL at Patwin

Hello!

I just updated to add three photos in Nov. 29th blog, please take a look at it.

Last two weeks, students learned two Deaf famous people.  They were Douglas Tilden and Helen Keller.  One student got so fascinated about her - never knew she was Deaf AND Blind!  :)

Last week on their last day of ASL class on Dec. 13th, I decided not to do anything, so I asked two students to be my teacher!  They were surprised and excited!

Teacher Anik: ASL Bingo
Teacher Tamara: Pictionary

I asked students who Helen Keller was and Tamara volunteered to write the short story about her!

I hope you are enjoying your long Break!  I am looking forward to see your students in 2019!

Int Spa - Korematsu - Mid Dec Post

Hello TALK Parents!

These past two weeks the kids have been reviewing general topics we had gone over such as food and the verb to like (gustar) and worked on their Me gusta/ no me gusta book. They also reviewed how to say the time playing ¿Qué hora es Señor Fox? (What time is it Mr. Fox?), and the weather by finishing up our vocabulary sheets from the previous week! We also reviewed the commands with Simón Dice (Simon Says).

This last week we focused on vocabulary related to Winter! The kids went over general vocabulary such as snowman, snowflake, as well as sports such as hockey and iceskating. We also reviewed clothing related to winter such as scarfs and mittens! During this last week before our break, we focused on a lot of hands-on activities such as building items with play-dough and making snowflakes! On Thursday we listened to some Holiday tunes and worked on Holiday cards, that unfortunately we didn't get to finish.

We also celebrated two birthdays! And the kids were super excited to sing the birthday song in Spanish to their classmates! 🎂🎉

Here are some stuff the kids got to do these past two weeks:

The kids worked on a Vocabulary Sheet for Months, Seasons and Weather
Some of the kids working on their Me gusta/ no me gusta Book
Some of the kids plating ¿Qué hora es Mr. Fox? t

Int Spanish - Birch Lane - Late Nov

Hola padres,

I hope you all are doing well and are enjoying this weather. I also hope that you all had a wonderful break and spent it with friends and family.

The students have been doing well in class and enjoying themselves. It was not hard for the students to get back into their class routine. The kids were energized and ready to go. This past we had a small review of previous vocabulary and we learned about emotions this week.

As you can see below the students learned emotions vocabulary such as "happy, sad, angry, surprised, excited" as well as "ready and tired". They also learned some descriptive words like "beautiful, ugly, bitter, clean, dirty". The kids enjoyed this activity since they were able to make their own mask emojis. We also went over how to conjugate and use the verb "estar" which is "to be". The students practiced writing a sentence and drew a picture.
