Hello Patwin ASL Families,
These last few weeks in ASL class have been filled with learning lots of fun new signs! We have gone over various animal signs, as well as family signs.
To review all of the animal signs we learned, we played Bingo. Thank you to Tamara for helping run the Bingo game! Be sure to ask your student about the different pet, farm, zoo, forest, & ocean animals we learned.
Some of our favorite signs were: CAT, FISH, HORSE, SHEEP, BEAR, SQUIRREL, SNAKE, GORILLA, SHARK, OCTOPUS
To learn family signs, we played pictionary and drew out our own families. After finishing our family drawings, we took turns presenting our family drawings to the rest of the class.
The signs we learned are: MOM, DAD, BROTHER, SISTER, BABY, AUNT, UNCLE, COUSIN, GRANDMA, GRANDPA

Davis Arts Center Intermediate French - End of Semester Post!
Bonjour Parents,
We’ve been really busy in Intermediate French
Class lately!
Earlier this month we celebrated “Galette des
Rois”. I baked two traditional French “Galettes” and hid two “fèves” inside.
Following French tradition, the youngest students went under the table to tell me
who I should give each piece. In the first helping of galette no one received
the fève! It took us multiple rounds to finally find the fève. Here are some
pictures from that activity!
We’ve also covered winter vocabulary! The
students helped me make a “mind map” of all the things that remind them of
winter. Here’s a picture of what our board looked like :
This week we’ve been learning fruits and
vegetables in French. We played « Around the world” and “Kaboom” using fruit
and veggie vocab. Here’s some examples of what fruits and vegetables we’ve learned
so far in class!

In French Class,
we read a French book every other Thursday. I find that this is a great way to
introduce the students to French vocabulary words in the context of a story.
Unfortunately, we’ve run out of French books. If you’d like to donate a French book
to our class we would greatly appreciate it!

Birch Lane Intermediate Spanish - End of Semester Post!

This month we have learned a lot of new vocabulary, including adjectives, verbs, body parts, the five senses, and feelings.
This week, the students labeled drawings with the various body parts. We also learned how to sing "Head, shoulders, knees and toes" in Spanish.

Beginner French DAC End of January Post
Bonjour parents!
As you all know, this week marks the end of our first semester of beginner French! It's been an absolute pleasure working with all of your children, and I look forward to what the next semester has to offer!
In the past few weeks we've expanded our beginner vocabulary quite a bit, learning more prepositions, household words, and nature words, as well.
Two weeks ago, we also introduced the students to some French culture with our Three Kings Day celebration. Your students can tell you about searching for the hidden bean baked into the galette des rois.
We've also played more games with our Intermediate French buddies, including "Colors" and "Ship and Shore."
Finally, this past week we learned nature vocab and sculpted des fleurs, arbres, et arbustes in Play-doh.
