These first weeks of TALK at Korematsu have been great! The kids have been reviewing introductions in class, as well as learning about the 21 Spanish speaking countries! We also have reviewed numbers 1-100 and a few commands.
Something that I have incorporated into the classroom this year is "País de la semana" where I talk to the kids about a Spanish speaking country for the whole week (~5 minutes each day at the beginning of class). We have learned about Cuba and it's music: el son. Last week we learned about Costa Rica and their food: chocolate and coffee, as well as their lifestyle phrase "Pura vida" (in English pure life).
For this upcoming week we are going to start to review colors and shapes and start to focus a bit more on sentence building and a few verb conjugations for the verbs we use most in class such as gustar (to like), tener (to have) and ser/estar (to be). We will also be learning about Argentina and it's famous dance: ¡el tango!
Here are some pictures of this past two weeks:
The kids reviewed introduction questions and interviewed each other to practice their pronunciation |
The kids played a game where they had to guess where all 21 Spanish speaking countries were located around the world |
Some of our students working on a word search with all the Spanish speaking countries and color coding a map of the world to see where the countries are located |
During Week 3 the kids learned a bit about Cuba (such as music, and food) |
During Week 4 the kids learned about about Costa Rica (such as flora and fauna) |
