The students have been learning about verbs used in ASL grammar such as "don't like, don't want, like, want, don't know, know", etc. and also learned the difference between verbs and nouns. "Sit and Chair" looks similar in signing but has different movement and facial expression.
They also learned 5 parameters of ASL:
1) Handshape
2) Palm Orientation
3)Movement
4) Location
5) Facial Expression
For example: "Mom and Dad" what parameters do they have in common? Handshape, Palm Orientation, Movement, and Facial Expression. "Mad and Sad" Only has Palm Orientation in common.
It has been fun teaching them more about grammar!
