Beg./Int. ASL- Patwin- Mid November Post

Hello Patwin ASL Parents!
In the past couple of weeks we have learned various fruit and vegetable signs. Some signs we covered were apple, orange, banana, grapes, strawberry, cherry, tomato, carrot, corn, lettuce, onion. We created a fruit and vegetable bowl using construction paper. The students were able to describe the fruits they incorporated on their bowls. I attached pictures of student marvelous work bellow.

We have also spent a week reviewing all of the signs we have leaned thus far. We reviewed personal identity signs like deaf, hard of hearing, hearing, I am ___ years old and my name is ___. We also reviewed our shapes like circle, triangle, square, rectangle, and star. Finally we reviewed our colors, these included red, yellow, green, blue, purple, green and rainbow. The review was meant to enforce the repetition of signs and is a way to  increase retention of the signs.

In the upcoming weeks, we will be starting meals and beverages. We will be introducing signs such as drink, eat, food, hungry, snack, desert.

I appreciate your support and would like to keep encouraging students to use their ASL outside of the classroom.  As always, please feel free to contact me with any questions, suggestions, comments or concerns. My email is gortizf@ucdavis.edu.

Respectfully,

Grecia Ortiz Flores
